Clean Ingredients & Community Through Cannabis – The Foy Way

“Cannabis is more than a product offering. Functionally, it has the power to help people feel better. But, that power goes beyond mental clarity or enhanced sleep. It can also show up through inspiration and impact.” – Yon and Moose Haile, co-founders of Black-owned wellness company, Foy. Since 2018, the Haile brothers and their close friend, former NFL Super Bowl champion Stevan Ridley, have endeavored to harness this power. The trio, who previously worked together in and around professional sports, saw a few whitespaces in the then emerging industry. Their point of view was that early brands lacked cultural and wellness representation. Moreover, they weren’t putting enough emphasis on connecting or elevating the communities around them. Through Foy, the entrepreneurs combine their passion for wellness with a talent for creating positive experiences and a commitment to helping others.

Amid the company’s development, the founders doubled down on delivering quality and accessible product. It’s the New York-based company’s business model. Through a hands-on approach, transparency, and the use of clean, organic ingredients the trio has built a trusted line. All production decisions are carefully made. Every ingredient is clearly disclosed and communicated. And, each vegan SKU—including the increasingly popular Daytime and Nighttime Chews—is made with USDA-certified adaptogens and is free of corn syrup, artificial fillers/colors, and other harmful additives. Foy’s growing customer base shows up for its products’ smooth and elevated high, but patrons have also bought into the company’s social responsibility platforms designed to address and mitigate inequities – inside and beyond the industry. Every Foy sale contributes to one of several, purposeful initiatives. This includes founder favorite, “Purchase with Purpose.” The monthly effort provides bail for individuals arrested under minor, and often debated, cannabis-related charges. In addition to alleviating individual and family financial stress, the program raises awareness for the long-term effects of outdated laws. For the last three years, Foy has extended these efforts to Mother’s Day, providing bail and reunification support for several mothers – giving them and their children some additional hope. Beyond Purchase with Purpose, Foy contributes to wounded military veteran non-profits and voter engagement programs within marginalized or underserved communities.

Foy will continue to give back in 2025, aligning with like-minded brands, distributors and leaders eager to effect change on multiple levels. Housing Works, a local non-profit that combats the twin crises of AIDS and homelessness sets a great example and serves as an inspiration to Foy on how to prioritize our social responsibility. Both organizations partner around a shared interest in social justice and bettering New York.

Additionally, the Foy team is considering ways to expand an existing program that supports aspiring, BIPOC entrepreneurs through mentorship, networking and collaboration. The goal is to find new spaces for mentees to contribute to brand partnerships and innovation. The Foy founders are proud to have built a brand that represents more than exceptional products. And, while it has already made an admirable impact, the leadership team is just getting started. “We’ve always operated with intention and purpose,” Yon said. “Beyond delivering a quality line, we want to continue to build with our partners and inspire others to follow suit. The community biproduct that’s made possible from our core product, that’s what keeps us going. That’s why we’re here.”
